You will be able to see first hand how local craftspeople of Sarhua and Quinua continue to weave and develop traditional textiles. Visit the mysterious pre Inca archeological ruins of Vilcashuamán and trek to the bright turquoise pools of Millpu. Get off the beaten track with the family and visit Puya Raimondii, the Queen of the Andes, in her natural state. Moreover, with this tailor-made trip, experience the authentic Peru, away from the crowds and the sheer tourism pressure.

On arrival your local guide will meet you and bring you to your hotel. After checking-in into your hotel, you will visit the unique Lopez de Antay House Museum. This is where you will discover and learn more about the beautiful retablos art of Ayacucho from the mouths of the actual masters of the local traditions.

Today’s schedule includes a visit to the crafts of Ayacucho. Visit the workshop and home of master artisan, Marcial Berrocal, from Sarhua and hear the history behind the beautiful painted beams that adorn the walls of so many homes in Ayacucho. Afternoon at leisure in Quinua. Time to shop for souvenirs, visit with friends or simply take a stroll around town as you wish. Visit the Limacos’ pottery workshop to see firsthand the art of making and painting pottery.

Embark on a scenic drive south to the archaeological site of Vilcashuamán, a key center of Incan power. Explore the Temple of the Sun, the Ushno pyramid and a colonial church. En route, stop to marvel at the blooming puya raimondii in Vishongo, a unique spectacle of the Queen of the Andes. Return to Ayacucho for a relaxing evening.

Prepare for a day immersed in nature as you head towards Millpu, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise pools. Enjoy a short hike into this hidden paradise, with ample time to marvel at the stunning landscapes and take photographs. Afterward, return to Ayacucho.

Your journey continues to the remote village of Andamarca, a place where ancient traditions thrive amidst stunning mountain vistas. Discover the sacred terraces that have been cultivated for centuries, and immerse yourself in the local culture with a traditional danzaq (scissors dance) performance in the evening.

Early risers will be treated to spectacular views of the Andean Condors soaring high over the Sondondo Valley. Hike the ancient terraces surrounding Andamarca, learning about their pre-Hispanic origins and Incan occupation. End your day with a delicious homemade pizza and dessert in town.

After a final breakfast, say goodbye to Andamarca and return to Ayacucho, stopping along the way to soak in the incredible Andean landscape. Your adventure ends as you head to the airport for your onward journey.
