Japan in Spring: Cherry Blossoms, Adventure & Timeless Beauty in 10 Days

Step back in time to start your Tokyo-based adventure in Modern Japan where life moves at a pace that is far removed from the older traditions of Japan. After your long-haul flight to Tokyo Haneda airport, you will be met by your local Tokyo Guide in arrivals. He or she will then take you to collect your Japan Rail Passes from the airport station and then show you how to use the public transport systems of Tokyo. He or she will then take you to your hotel in the first part of your journey to Tokyo and the rest of the day is then yours to do as you wish. Take your time to relax in the hotel, take a short stroll around the local area and/ or sample your first Japanese meal.

Explore Tokyo and discover a different perspective of the Japanese capital. You can discover a beautiful garden, a shrine and then a soulful district. The area of the Imperial Palace is a great place to start your day of sightseeing, the beautiful garden and the large green spaces make for a really peaceful start of the day. Close to the Imperial Palace is the Hie Jinja Shrine, this Shinto shrine is located on a small hill and it is dedicated to the deity of Mount Hie. After this visit you can visit the Shinjuku Gyoen, one of the largest and most beautiful green areas of Tokyo. In spring this is one of the best places to admire the famous cherry blossoms, the lawns and the walking paths are perfect to admire in full bloom the trees with their flowers. In the afternoon you can add in your plans to visit the Meiji Jingu Shrine, one of the most important shrines of Japan, it is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and of his wife, the Empress Shoken. Close to the shrine is the famous Yoyogi Park, where you can see Tokyo’s youth. This is one of the places in the capital where they like to gather. In the evening end your day of sightseeing in the district of Shibuya or Harajuku, two of the most famous districts of Tokyo for the youth of Japan, full of fashion, street food and a city that is always alive and with a lot of light at night.

Ueno Park is a wonderful starting point, especially during blossom season, with museums, temples, shrines and wide paths that are popular with local families and weekend walkers. From there, continue to Akihabara, Tokyo's center of anime, manga, gaming and electronics culture. The district is bold, bright and modern, offering a playful glimpse into one side of contemporary Japanese identity. In the afternoon, step back into historic Tokyo in Asakusa. Wander along Nakamise Street, lined with small stalls selling local snacks and souvenirs, before reaching Sensoji Temple, a sacred site with more than a thousand years of history. At the arranged time, your driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the airport.
