Nearby, you’ll find the Morosini Fountain, a beautiful example of Venetian architecture. Your second day is focused on exploring the ancient history of Crete. Start with a visit to the famous Knossos Palace, a gem of European civilization. The Minoans, Europe's first advanced society, left behind this extensive archaeological site allowing us to have an understanding of their daily lives. As you walk through the labyrinthine halls of the palace, your expert guide will bring to life the innovations of the Minoans, from central ventilation and indoor plumbing to their highly sophisticated drainage system. Listen to stories of King Minos, the Minotaur, and the powerful mythology that surrounds this fascinating place.
After exploring the Palace, continue into the heart of Crete’s countryside. You’ll travel through narrow roads, passing traditional villages where life moves at a slower pace. The Lassithi Plateau is located at 2,800 feet, offering amazing views over the island’s mountains. On day four, embark on a boat trip to Spinalonga. Spinalonga island has a complex history!
