Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Rome!

Welcome to Rome, a city where historical legend and daily existence visibly coexist. Tradition states that the city’s foundational moment was 753 BC by Romulus and Remus. Today, it functions as a vibrant capital that integrates its profound history into its current structure.

As you begin your exploration, you will observe the impact left by emperors, popes and artists. Ancient archaeological remains, churches with important artworks and historical treasures are there for you to experience. Yet, your most valuable memories will likely be from quieter moments. For example, pausing for a coffee in the Campo de’ Fiori or simply walking around a residential piazza or observing the traditional evening passeggiata as residents socialize.

Initially, Rome can appear overwhelming. However, if you commit to exploring on foot, you will appreciate its structure. If you return to the same square or local café even once or twice, you are likely to be met with small signs of recognition. This defines the Roman experience: a mix of chaotic elements, continuous contrasts and a vibrant vitality.

Day 2 - Colosseum & Archaeological Park of Rome Tour

Today you will be stepping directly into the profound historical world of Ancient Rome via a small-group tour of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, which includes the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. This excursion offers an optimal introduction to the city’s most instantly recognizable ruins, enriched by the crucial insights of a professional guide.

The immersion begins at the Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the immense arena where gladiators, exotic animals and elaborate theatrical productions once captivated audiences numbering up to 50,000 spectators. Standing within the structure, it is incredibly easy to visualize the deafening sound of the crowd and appreciate the importance of the events that happened here nearly two millennia ago.

The exploration then proceeds to Palatine Hill, recognized as one of the legendary Seven Hills of Rome. Mythologically, this site is credited as the place where the she-wolf discovered the infants Romulus and Remus and where Romulus established the city. During the Imperial era, it transformed into Rome’s most exclusive residential address, housing the palaces of the emperors.

You will conclude the tour at the Roman Forum, which historically served as the political and social connection of the entire Roman empire. Walking among the preserved columns, arches and temple foundations, your guide will enable you to mentally reconstruct the state ceremonies and the daily life that unfolded in this space for numerous centuries.

Day 3 - Siena & San Gimignano Tour from Rome with Wine & Food Pairing

Today, you travel from the city to fully experience two of Tuscany's most captivating towns, both holding UNESCO World Heritage status, complemented by the authentic flavors that contribute to this region's popularity.

Your day commences in Siena, a city celebrated for its beautifully intact medieval street plan and the Palio, the historic, high-stakes horse race traditionally run twice yearly in the Piazza del Campo. This shell-shaped square is one of Italy’s most architecturally striking civic spaces and continues to function as the energetic social and cultural center of the city. As you explore, you will absorb the atmosphere of a destination where traditions are deeply rooted and local pride is alive.

The tour then proceeds to San Gimignano, a hilltop village still protected by its original 13th-century fortifications. Known historically as the "Town of Fine Towers," it retains its medieval skyline due to the number of stone towers that still stand. The town is also regarded for Vernaccia, its local white wine. A leisurely exploration through its narrow lanes and panoramic viewpoints quickly shows why it has fascinated travelers for generations.

Additionally, you will enjoy a generous tasting of local products, which includes tasting eight distinct regional wines alongside traditional salumi (cured meats), specialized cheeses, the hearty ribollita vegetable soup and classic lasagna prepared with truffle. This stop serves as a delicious, practical lesson in understanding the profound connection between the Tuscan landscape, its culture and its culinary traditions.

Day 4 - Day Trip to Pompeii & the Amalfi Coast from Rome

Today you combine coastal scenery with archaeological sites in Italy. This full-day small-group tour takes you from Rome to the Amalfi Coast and the ancient city of Pompeii.

You’ll first follow the famous road along the Amalfi Coast, where the landscape is a series of cliffs, hillsides and sea views. The route goes along the slopes with unforgettable views at every turn. You’ll have free time in Positano and Amalfi, two postcard-perfect towns where colorful houses cling to the hillsides, narrow streets lead down to the water and every corner seems made for a photograph. Use this time to stroll, shop or simply sit with a coffee or gelato and take it all in.

In the afternoon, the focus shifts from coastal beauty to ancient history as you head to Pompeii for a guided visit. Buried under ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii is remarkably well preserved. Streets, homes, shops and paintings still tell the story of daily life in a Roman city almost 2,000 years ago. Your professional guide will help you make sense of what you’re seeing so the ruins feel like a real, lived-in place rather than just stones.

*Please note: This tour is not wheelchair accessible.*

**Inclusions: 14-hour small-group experience (max 7 pax) with an English-speaking driver and a professional guide in Pompeii, Hotel pick-up by vehicle from centrally located hotels, Transportation by A/C minivan, Entrance fees**
