Morocco Beyond the Map: A 10-Day Journey through the Anti-Atlas, Sahara & Draa Valley

Later, continue by private transfer to Tiznit for dinner and overnight.

This morning is dedicated to Tiznit, a historic town framed by ochre ramparts and known for its silver craftsmanship. Inside the medina, explore the jewelry souk, where skilled artisans work with silver and semi-precious stones and wander through the old market streets that give the city its distinctive southern character. In the afternoon, travel onward toward Tafraoute, where the scenery begins to shift into the sculpted world of the Anti-Atlas. Once there, check in and enjoy the evening at leisure, surrounded by pink granite landscapes and a slower mountain pace.

Spend the day discovering Tafraoute, a scenic town set among palm groves, rocky slopes and the dramatic formations of the Ameln Valley. Once an important trading crossroads, the area remains a wonderful base for travelers who appreciate rural landscapes, mountain villages and local traditions. Take time to visit the Maison Berbere Traditionnelle, walk through the valley and enjoy the views that have made this region a favorite for hikers and photographers. After soaking up the beauty of Tafraoute, continue to Irherm, where the evening is reserved for rest and dinner.

After breakfast, set out for one of the region's most atmospheric cultural sites: Ait Kine, a centuries-old collective granary located around 50 kilometers south of Irherm. With its fortified walls and watchtowers, this still-functional agadir offers a rare glimpse into historic Amazigh systems of storage, protection and community life. Your guide will help bring the site to life, explaining how rights and responsibilities have been passed down through generations and how the space remains connected to festivals, weddings and social gatherings. Later, continue across remote southern landscapes to Tata for dinner and overnight.

Today the journey turns fully toward the Sahara. Travel to Foum Zguid, the gateway to the desert, where you will pause for lunch at a local restaurant before changing to a 4x4 vehicle for the off-road drive into the dunes. Across the vast landscapes of Erg Chigaga, the horizon opens into one of Morocco's most remote desert settings. Arrive at your Berber camp in time for dinner, music and a night under a canopy of stars, far from city lights and everyday noise.

Rise early to watch the first light move across the dunes, a quiet moment in the desert. After breakfast back at camp, continue your journey through the south, stopping at M'Hamid El Ghizlane and then Tamegoute in the Draa Valley for lunch en route. The day ends in Agdz, a peaceful town wrapped in palm groves at the edge of the Atlas Mountains. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a slower evening after a day that ran from dunes to villages to valleys.

After breakfast, continue toward Tazenakht, a town known throughout Morocco for Amazigh carpets. Here, learn about the weaving traditions, colors and craftsmanship behind these handmade pieces, with the chance to appreciate how local artistry is carried from generation to generation. The route then leads to the striking Gorges Tislite, where rocky canyons, volcanic formations and wild natural beauty create a powerful contrast with the desert plains. Enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature before traveling on to Taliouine, Morocco's celebrated saffron-producing region.

Today's cultural focus is Taroudant, often admired for its golden ramparts, artisan traditions and warm southern atmosphere. Inside the historic city walls, explore busy lanes and stalls filled with leather goods, Amazigh jewelry, terracotta pieces and other regional crafts. With a local guide, walk the souks and see the old city before continuing back toward Agadir. Spend the evening at leisure, perhaps enjoying one final coastal dinner and reflecting on the variety of landscapes and traditions you have experienced.

After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in Morocco at a relaxed pace. At the appropriate time, your private transfer will take you to Agadir Al-Massira International Airport for your flight home.
