This 14 day itinerary to travel around Argentina will give you a first taste of this beautiful country. Starting in the vibrant capital, Buenos Aires, you then travel to stunning Patagonia and end at the lush subtropical Iguazu Falls. On your way you can pass through charming colonial cities as well as colorful mountain towns and in between you can enjoy deep blue glacier lakes and a variety of wildlife. Every day will have its very own highlights and you will get to experience a lot, but there will also be plenty of time to do whatever you like.

Day 1: Buenos Aires – Touchdown in Argentina

Arrive in Buenos Aires and be warmly greeted at the airport. Transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city and settle in. Take a gentle stroll around your neighbourhood, absorbing the vibrant city energy, stopping for a coffee or snack along the way. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring classic Argentine dishes to start your journey with the flavours of Buenos Aires.

Day 2: Buenos Aires – Wandering the Capital

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Buenos Aires’ most iconic neighbourhoods. Visit the historic Plaza de Mayo, the lively port area of La Boca with its vividly painted houses and the chic streets of Palermo. The afternoon is free for you to explore independently. In the evening, enjoy a local dinner.

Day 3: Buenos Aires – Journey North

Fly north to Iguazu and transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure to relax and explore the local surroundings. Enjoy the subtropical environment and prepare for the spectacular waterfall adventures to come.

Day 4: Iguazu Falls – Argentine Side

Today, you visit the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls. A guided tour through the forest to admire the falls, including the mighty Devil’s Throat. Feel free to join a boat ride providing a very close view of the waterfalls. In the lush rainforest, you will find a lot of wildlife and the powerful water of the falls. It is a great day out for everybody, especially for children.

Day 5: Iguazu Falls – Brazilian Side & Bird Park

The views from this side of Iguazu Falls are incredible and can be seen from many different angles. The Bird Park near the Falls Park is also well worth a visit. With over 600 species of birds native to the area and over 130 species represented within the 5 acres of the Park, there is no better place to observe the incredible array of birds that exist in this region. An optional boat trip down close to the Falls in a steel zodiak is also available and is a real trip of a lifetime. On your return to your hotel in the late afternoon after a long day, just relax and enjoy an evening at your leisure.

Day 6: Iguazu Falls – Salta Flight & City Tour

After breakfast, fly to Salta in northern Argentina. Settle into your charming hotel, then enjoy an afternoon guided tour of the city. Visit the main square, historical landmarks and the local market where you can taste regional delicacies. Learn about local traditions and architecture.

Day 7: Salta – Cachi Excursion

Join a trip into the Northern Argentina Countryside to Cachi. Traveling through desert like landscapes and through small villages the tour will come across a variety of huge cacti as well as the breathtaking Enchanted Valley amongst other incredible sights whilst traveling along the old Inca paths.

Day 8: Salta – Purmamarca & Off-Road Adventure

Drive to Purmamarca via adventurous 4x4 routes along the Toro River Ravine. Encounter pre-Inca ruins and rushing waters, then continue across the Salinas Grandes salt flats into the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Arrive in Purmamarca, check into your hotel and explore the town at leisure.

Day 9: Purmamarca – Rainbow Mountain & Humahuaca Gorge

Experience the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain at sunrise for optimal views of the multicolored hillsides. Journey through the UNESCO-listed Humahuaca Gorge, making stops in Tilcara and Humahuaca to admire the local culture, architecture and sample traditional cuisine along the way.

Day 10: Salta – El Calafate Flight to Patagonia

A short flight will take you to the Patagonian town of El Calafate, where you will be transferred to your hotel. El Calafate is the gateway to the glaciers of Patagonia and the area of icy wilderness is breathtaking. With clear air, majestic mountains and amazing landscapes, you will relax here and feel that your holiday has started again.

Day 11: El Calafate – Perito Moreno Glacier

Visit Los Glaciares National Park to see the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier. Walk along viewing platforms and board a boat for a close-up encounter. Watch massive ice walls calve into the lake, creating a symphony of sound and spectacle. Return to El Calafate for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: El Calafate – Glaciers National Park Optional Activities

Spend the full day to explore Glaciers National Park as you wish to. Hike to a glacier, take a boat trip through its many glaciers or go on a photo safari. Families will enjoy a peaceful stroll along the lake while enjoying the spectacular views of the Patagonian ice fields.

Day 13: El Calafate – Buenos Aires – Tango Show
