Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José and meet your private local representative. Transfer to your hotel and settle in. Spend the afternoon gently exploring San José’s historic neighborhoods, museums and plazas, such as the National Theatre and Gold Museum. Evening at leisure with a relaxed welcome dinner.
Travel by car and boat to Tortuguero, a remote village on the Caribbean coast. Explore the village and its Afro-Caribbean heritage, with highlights on local history and culture. Board a comfortable boat to tour Tortuguero National Park’s canals, spotting wildlife including sloths, monkeys and tropical birds. Evening at leisure in your lodge.
Spend the day on a guided boat tour deeper into Tortuguero National Park, observing rich wildlife from the comfort of the boat. Afternoon gentle guided nature walk on park trails, with historical and cultural commentary about the area. Evening free for relaxation and enjoying the natural surroundings.
Depart Tortuguero by boat and transfer via Guápiles to Puerto Viejo. Lunch en route featuring local Caribbean cuisine. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed afternoon strolling the coastal streets or visiting local markets. Your evening is free to enjoy it as you wish.
Morning guided snorkelling tour at Cahuita National Park’s reef, with senior-friendly pace and assistance. Afternoon guided cultural walk through Cahuita, learning about the region’s Afro-Caribbean heritage and observing local wildlife including sloths, howler monkeys and exotic birds. Evening free to enjoy local dining or a quiet beach sunset.
Today, your morning schedule is free! Feel free to enjoy some wellness activities such as yoga, a relaxed beach walk or a morning at the pool. Your afternoon is left for cultural activities offering a cooking class with a local chef or an artisan presentation. In the evening again you can do as you please.
Shuttle transfer back to San José, enjoying scenic views of Costa Rica’s lush countryside. Afternoon at leisure to explore San José’s markets, plazas,or optional museum visits. Evening at leisure and overnight in San José.
On your last full day of vacation, spend the day as you like, visiting local shops, historical sites of interest or just sitting in a local café. Transfer in the evening to the airport for your return departure from Juan Santamaría International Airport.
