After your arrival at Liberia International Airport, your driver will transfer you to the Rincón de la Vieja. This is a unique nature reserve featuring beautiful hot springs, sandy beaches, lush rainforest and an 1,079-meter (3,538 ft) active volcano. Evening at leisure in the rainforest to feel comfortable with your new environment.
In today’s schedule, get ready to explore volcanic slopes, flowing rivers, waterfalls and permanent rainforests. Moreover, you will be able to observe monkeys, sloths and even a tapir at Rincón de la Vieja National Park. After a long day of exploring and hiking around the National Park, relax in the therapeutic natural hot springs. A great combination of nature, adventure and relaxation.
After a busy week of trekking and volunteering, Make your way to the coast in Sámara and Nosara. There is plenty of time to soak up some sun on the beach, wander round the towns, visit the local markets and sample the local cuisine at various restaurants. The slower pace of these towns will allow you to unwind and start soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of Costa Rica’s coast.
Today, start by driving to Sámara’s Bay and embarking on a Boat to the Isla Chora (1 hour travel). Along the way kayaks and snorkeling gear will be on board to be used in the clear waters around the island to kayak, snorkel or simply swim into the coral reefs full of tropical fish. On some occasions you may even have the luck to spot a sea turtle swimming by. After having enjoyed the beauty of nature on this small island you will head back to Sámara for an evening of rest and leisure.
After breakfast, you will spend the morning at Sámara Beach, a laid back beach in one of the world’s surfing capitals of Costa Rica! Sámara offers a range of activities like swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding or simply relaxing and reading a good book. In the afternoon you will take a boat tour into the mangroves, a critical component of marine life in this area and home to many species of birds and monkeys.
Drive to Isla Chiquita, a peaceful island paradise offering an idyllic escape off the beaten path. On this beautiful spot, you can relax on the pristine beaches, take a dip in the warm, crystal-clear waters or simply enjoy the island’s raw nature. The serenity of Isla Chiquita offers the perfect environment for those looking to relax and immerse themselves in nature.
After yesterday’s great day, today the focus is to relax and enjoy the sunset on Isla Chiquita. During the day, you have a free schedule to enjoy it as you prefer. Late in the evening you will be part of a special boat tour to appreciate one of the unique natural features that Costa Rica has to offer: the bioluminescence. While paddling at night you will see the waters light up as you move through the bay, a truly amazing sight.
Today you travel from the idyllic tropical paradise to the capital city of San José. Experience the many cultures and ages of Costa Rica by touring the Museo Nacional and experiencing the famous National Theatre. Visit the many markets and stores filled with local handicrafts, native textiles and gourmet foods. Sample local specialties such as gallo pinto, ceviche and a variety of fresh tropical fruits. San José is home to one of the newest and most exciting food scenes in the region as well as a fun and thriving nightlife.
Say goodbye to Costa Rica as you are transferred to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your departure.
