Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport and meet your guide. Transfer to your hotel in San José and settle in. Spend the afternoon exploring the city at a gentle pace: walk through parks, visit local artisan markets and learn about Costa Rica's history and culture. Enjoy a family-friendly welcome dinner and rest in preparation for your adventure.
Take a domestic flight to Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula. Transfer by motorboat to your eco-lodge, surrounded by rainforest and river estuaries. You and the family can enjoy a short guided walk to observe flora and fauna, learn about rainforest ecosystems and relax in the serene natural surroundings. Evening at leisure with options to explore the lodge or enjoy a sunset by the water.
Begin the day with a guided hike through the lush Corcovado National Park near San Pedrillo. Spot monkeys, coatis, sloths and a variety of tropical birds. The trails are suitable for families and children will enjoy learning from the naturalist guide about the Rainforest ecology. After a picnic lunch in the jungle, cool off at a waterfall and take plenty of family photos. Return via boat, keeping an eye out for dolphins and humpback whales along the way.
Board a boat to Isla del Caño Biological Reserve for snorkeling in calm, crystal-clear waters. Observe vibrant tropical fish, turtles, stingrays and coral formations. All snorkeling equipment is provided and guides ensure the experience is safe and enjoyable for children and adults. Return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation and storytelling about the day’s discoveries.
After breakfast, take a motorboat back to the airstrip and fly to San José. Transfer to your hotel and check in. The afternoon can be spent exploring the neighborhood, shopping for local handicrafts, or visiting cultural landmarks. Reflect on the wildlife and nature experiences shared with your family.
