On arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport your private driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. A walk around the city takes in the numerous theaters of interest sites and historical plazas. This evening you have a family dinner in a local restaurant to sample the local flavors.
The day begins early with a trip to the Pacuare River where you will experience a fun filled day of white water rafting that the whole family can enjoy. In the afternoon, you can relax on the riverbank, explore nearby waterfalls or simply relax in a hammock gazing out at the surroundings. You will enjoy dinner under the stars and return to our accommodations for the night.
Drive through the lush rainforest to the picturesque town of La Fortuna which is the base for Arenal Volcano. The drive will pass by beautiful rainforest, wildlife, lakes and also many interesting plants. In the late afternoon you can walk around the town and its surrounding areas. You will be staying in a hotel close to the volcano and can see it from your hotel’s garden.
Go on a guided nature hike in Arenal Volcano National Park. Explore the wildlife and the geologic history of the volcano. Afternoon of relaxation in natural hot springs for kids and adults alike. Dinner can be at your hotel or at a local restaurant of your choice.
In the morning you transfer by jeep-boat-jeep across Lake Arenal. This gives you a fantastic view of the Arenal Volcano rising up from the lake shores. After crossing the lake you continue to the other side of the lake and go from there on horseback through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The afternoon is at leisure.
Monteverde’s Cloud Forest is one of the most fascinating ecosystems on earth. Explore the forest on trails that wind through the trees and cross suspended walkways, also known as hanging bridges. Get up close and personal with all of the trees, including the strangler fig and see the many species of plants and animals that call this unique place home. A fun and interactive way for children and adults alike to explore the forest.
Return to San José and visit the local museums, historic streets and bustling Avenida Central. Get a deeper insight in the culture of this vibrant city, meet the friendly locals and taste some of the street food and other specialties. Enjoy a special farewell dinner with your adopted Tico family.
Use your last morning in San José as you like. You can, for example, go shopping for souvenirs or just stroll around this vibrant city. Your personal driver then takes you to the airport for your flight home. And so your fantastic family holiday comes to an end.
